Michael H. Ratner, Chairman & CEO

Michael Ratner is the third generation in his family to lead Richter+Ratner. After graduating with a degree in civil engineering from Cornell University in 1964, Michael worked for Turner Construction before joining the family business in 1968. In the following decades, Michael worked his way up through R+R’s administration and project management, advancing to VP of Finance and Marketing, and became President of Richter+Ratner in 1989. Michael has directed the company’s expansion of its client base and diversification of projects to include some of the world’s premier corporate offices, private schools, retail stores and luxury residences.

Michael is licensed in numerous states requiring contractor licensing, including Florida, California, Nevada and Arizona. He is a founder, board member and former president of the Retail Contractors Association, and has been a guest lecturer on retail design and construction at Pratt Institute, Syracuse University, City College of New York, Moscow State University, New York University Stern School of Business, Parsons School of Design, F.I.T. and the University of Kansas School of Architecture.

Marc Heiman, President & Chief Operating Officer


For the past eighteen years, Mr. Heiman has risen through the ranks of the New York City construction industry. Marc joined Richter+Ratner as the President and Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for both the strategic positioning of the firm in addition to the day to day operations. Prior to R+R, Marc started as an assistant superintendent with Sciame Construction ultimately assuming the role of Vice President and Division Head. During Marc’s career he has overseen a wide variety of extremely challenging construction projects including educational institutions, corporate interiors, retail flagships, religious institutions and restoration projects. Select projects include the Center for Global Conservation at the Bronx Zoo, the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons The New School, the expansion of the Harvard Club, the highly designed Lycée Français, flagships for Toys R Us and Uniqlo, the LEED certified Heimbold Visual Center at Sarah Lawrence College and the complete restoration of the historic Central Synagogue.

Mr. Heiman graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management before going on to receive his certificate in Construction Management from New York University. Marc has also served as a professor at NYU’s Real Estate Institute teaching construction management and currently serves on the board of the Design Trust for Public Space.
