Our Legacy

Richter+Ratner (R+R) was founded in 1912 by David Richter and was guided by a vision “to take our clients out of the construction business so they can focus on their own business.” This philosophy translates into performing construction management the way it should be; honestly, with the highest level of integrity, and executing projects with the highest quality and standards. After three generations of family ownership, the company had branded itself into, what was, a niche (retail). With the addition of new management in 2005, R+R has overhauled the company and repositioned itself from top to bottom. One main and immediate goal was to dispel the image that the company is only a national “retail” contractor and to exploit the work performed previously in other sectors. In addition, other market sectors were pursued that allowed the company to exploit their highly qualified resources and proven abilities. The internal changes to the company have brought in, and complimented, the most talented group of construction professionals, who tirelessly work to uphold the company’s commitments to clients and to sustain the reputation and growth of the company.

The company has expanded its presence in Institutional, Corporate, Core & Shell, Boutique and Hospitality market sectors and will typically seek extremely challenging and complicated projects. At the same time, the company has established many new relationships with Architects, Clients and other industry professionals who see the company as a boutique builder, of the highest integrity, who truly puts the client and project needs first. R+R has established itself as a niche, medium size, Construction Manager known for delivering the most complex and challenging projects while preserving the design intent, as well as maintaining costs and schedule. The key factor behind this is the careful balance of internal resources with the external demands is the Core Value of “Controlled Growth,” so as not to overextend and risk compromising our reputation.
